New-build for Rostein

Skipskompetanse in Måløy will deliver complete design, class and production drawings. The new vessel will be named “Ro Arctic” and will be yard number 54 at Larsnes Mek Verksted.

The construction of the hull has started and the vessel will be delivered in 2014.


Ro Arctic will have the following main data:

Length:75,5 meters
Beam:15,5 meters
Propulsion system:diesel-electric
Accommodation:14 persons
Tank capacity:~3150m³
Class:DNV +1A1, E0

The vessel has been designed in close cooperation between Rostein AS, Naviera Orca Chile ltd and Skipskompetanse AS. The project has lead to a range of innovations and was originally initiated as a feasibility study with financial support from Innovation Norway – Sogn og Fjordane. The final exterior design is the result of a good cooperation with Hareide Design.

The vessel will be equipped with state of the art equipment and engines and will have diesel-electric propulsion. The main engines will be delivered by Yanmar while gear and propellers will be delivered by Finnøy. The diesel-electric system will be delivered from Siemens and side thrusters from Brunvoll. The vessel is arranged for closed transport with CO2 filters, filtereing and UV treatment on water inlets and outlets. Rostein have also on Ro Arctic installed their proprietary and patented BlueMist washing and disinfection system.
  
Rostein AS, Larsnes Mek Verksted AS and Skipskompetanse AS are all pleased with the contract and the successful cooperation in the first phase of the project. Rostein is also pleased to order yet another new ship from a Norwegian yard and thus contributing to strengthen the maritime cluster in the region.
